Facebook Scam: Get FREE 520 Facebook Credits

"Judy in disguise, well what you aiming for,
A circus of horrors, yeah, well that's what you are."
~ John Fred And His Playboy Band

As you read through Facebook, you find that people are posting this wonderful find:

FREE 520 FACEBOOK CREDITS FOR LIMITED TIME ONLY HURRY UP!!
(the website has been removed for security)

You think this is a great idea... Now you can get ahead on the Zynga Games (Farmville, MobWars, etc..) but this is not a so great idea.

This idea gives the 'creator' of this scam, access to your personal data, and also access to write on your wall.

First you click the link, and hurry to find what you need to do. Wow this must be legit, its got the Facebook logo, and it looks like I am on Facebook. STOP!, enlarge the following photo and take a look at the URL (the place where you type in your web pages to go to them) its not 'facbook.com' anymore, its now a 'claimnow.t35.com' no relation to Facebook.

Yep Dorthy, your not in Kansas anymore, you were whisked away from Facebook leaving (in most cases) your account information within your browser cache, and your account wide open.

Lets go further, the first thing you need to do on this page is [ LIKE ] it. This is a big mistake, and starts the ball rolling for the train wreck. When you 'Like' something it appears on your wall for your friends to see. Your friends in return see that you 'like' this, and think its safe, and then follow you into also getting free Facebook credits.

But wait... there's more... the next step is you need to 'Share' this bogus find, so you need to allow this page (the bogus page) to POST on your wall.

So for the fun of trying to see where this scam takes us... I decided to complete the offers, and click the 'Step 3'

I was given the warning I would have to wait 5 minutes after completing the offers before I would receive the credits... So I waited... 10 mins.... 20 mins... 30 mins... and still received the same message.

I examined the website code, and found that the "Click Here" is just code (java-script) that creates a pop-up box with the same "error message" every time you click it, nothing else, no credits deposited, no nothing.

Now for those who fell for this scam, and want to unlike the page, you need to go to your Profile Page -> "Edit My Profile" -> "Likes & Interests" and then make sure to click "Show Other Pages", and you will see this Rouge Facebook Page:

Click "Remove Page" and then [Close]. and the page is gone.

Also go back to your profile, and delete all the postings dealing with this subject from your Wall, to prevent others for falling for this Scam AND risking exposing their personal data.

You also will want to change your Facebook password to play it safe.

Anything that you need to [Like] before you view it (read, watch a movie, etc) is always up to no good... just skip it and move on.
