Facebook: Your Info On A Search Engine!?

"We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down"
~Buffalo Springfield

Another Facebook change sneaked under the covers, this one will automatically index all your info and make it available to search engines (Google, Yahoo, etc). This will allow anyone to view your info regardless if they are joined to Facebook or not.

I guess they decided to keep this change quiet, since the last one got them in some hot water with at least 90% of their users.

Any how, to correct another SNAFU from Facebook:

01. Go to Settings

02. Select "Privacy Settings"

03. Click on "Search"

04. Uncheck "Allow Indexing" (pictured below)

You may want to also change "Facebook Search Results" to "Friends" or "Friends of Friends".

Facebook has changed this option to "Everyone" so this means if this is not changed, your Facebook Searches will be viewable by everyone on Facebook.

05. Click [Home] when completed (settings are automatically saved).
